Glendale Hose Company #1
General Information
Glendale Volunteer Fire Department was founded and mustered in 1877.  At the time the "department" consisted of a handful of men who pulled a hose cart to the scene of a fire.   Then in 1933 we re-organized as Glendale Hose Company #1 to honor our days as a hose company.  From the begining up until the 1950's our primary station was located on Carothers Avenue across from Hall Way.  It was till 1953 the new building was built across from the old at 541 Carothers Avenue.  Three additional truck bays and a social hall were added in the 1970's.

Today, our department consists of approx. 60 members, and a total of six pieces of apparatus.  We run over 700 medical emergency calls per year and close to 200 Fire calls per year.
